Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed…he went to his house…and prayed…as he did aforetime. Daniel 6:10 (Paraphrased)
There is a quality every child of God must possess. This quality I so strongly desire. My heart cries to God for help: "Come what may, Lord Jesus, Oh that I may remain calm and keep my focus on you every day of my life. Let me be that type of Christian."
Daniel, a man who must do valiantly at work, such as is expected of any man whom God blesses with an excellent spirit had just learned that he was being set up by his colleagues. The trap, was so bad; it wasn't to set him up for demotion, it wasn't even to get him sacked, it was to get him killed. A bill was passed into law, a bill that went against Daniel's freedom of worship.
Daniel was supposed to flare up. He and his people were supposed to carry placards and call on the king to reverse such a horrible law. Daniel was supposed to stage a protest, even if it would be a peaceful one…But this man would do no such thing. When Daniel knew that the writing was signed…he went to his house…and prayed…as he did aforetime.
I must be like Daniel. A man who knows how to settle his scores on his knees. A man who allows God to fight for him. A man who neither riots nor protests when offended. A man who would rather keep his calm and pick the best option of reporting his enemies to God.
…And they brought those men which had accused Daniel and they cast them into the Den of Lions, them, their children, their wives; and the lions had the mastery of them…Daniel 6:24 (Paraphrased)
God came through for Daniel!
A Christian who keeps calm when he is being patronized is the most dangerous; their type goes home to report you to God. A Christian who does not protest when he is being cheated is the most powerful; their type fights on their knees with God's backing. A Christian who keeps his focus on God when persecuted is the wisest; their type simply leaves you to the one whom you have challenged (Zechariah 2:8). That's the kind of Christian I want to be. The type that God can fight for.
So, from today I resolve that I will no longer protest, I will not lead nor participate in the riots even if I'm being cheated. I resolve to stop all fighting and arguments. I will go home, go on my knees and pray to God like Daniel. I will let Him fight for me.
The fruit of the spirit is…peace, patience, gentleness, self-control. Galatians 5:22-23 (Paraphrased)
"Come what may, Lord Jesus, Oh that I may remain calm and keep my focus on you every day of my life. Let me be that type of Christian."
