Day and night transcends our clocking system.
The day period is that when the sun is out shining with or without clouds. It is bright enough to see without the aid of other lights. It is day because there is light, illumination, a sense of direction and speed in motion because of certainty. The day is filled with hope and rejoicing; there is that delight out there.
In the day, you have people around and feel the warmth of relationships. It is a period you are engaged in your business with profits to show forth. You sense and participate in the life around you. There is so much energy and excitement.
Some find company in God’s word when it is day; when it seems ‘all is going as it is written.’ They internalize and vocalize it about since they seem to be a living testimony. However, should their sun seem to go down and seem to be confronted with darkness they throw away God’s word and seek torchlights. They tell you they have to ‘face reality’ and ‘be realistic.’
The night is that period when the sun is not shining. There is that darkness that seems to envelope with no illumination and sense of direction. Motion becomes a struggle if attempted because of the uncertainty. For some it is so gloomy that they murmur and complain, cry and weep. Faith is replaced with fear of both the known and unknown. A grave loneliness exists though a few people might still be around. Yes, a few people, as many friends if not all quit, leave and abandons temporarily or permanently. In the night, relationships might become burdens.
The night is that moment you are unengaged due to overwhelming or underwhelming. You just want to be left alone, unseen and unnoticed, though at times with the inner cry for someone to sincerely notice. In the night, you just don’t ask questions but question the questions and answers forming that questionable chain of ongoing questions. The waiting in the night seems long.
Some find comfort in God’s word when it is seemingly dark. They navigate through such trying times with the word of God, the entrance of which grants light. Fueling their Faith with God’s word, they move mountains, fill valleys, overcome obstacles and conquer oppositions. However, no sooner has their morning come and it becomes day around them they abandon the same help they had- God’s word, and navigate their day on their own. They can do things by themselves without an ‘alien’ help after all ‘they've got brains.’
However, God’s instruction is clear: stick to the word in both your day and night. In your day, ponder, meditate and act on it. In your night, ponder, meditate and act on it. Ignore it neither in your day nor in your night.
And don't for a minute let this Book of The Revelation be out of mind. Ponder and meditate on it day and night, making sure you practice everything written in it. Then you'll get where you're going; then you'll succeed. Joshua 1:8 MSG
